The Genesis and the role of Christof HinckelIt all started in a pub in Essen in the December of 2009. After a long tête-à-tête about God and the universe, I was inspired by an idea from Akuma Saningong and I almost cursed myself, why I hadn’t come to it before. Out of a sudden, I had a clear view on how we could come up with a product generated by the stipendiaries themselves, which shall serve as an extra source of revenue for the association.
Based on my experience as a music componist and studio work, I wanted to try something new by applying my knowledge and capabilities to the benefit of a charitable project that will be of immediate help to the stipendiaries. With this in mind, the idea of a children and youth’s choir was born. Their audio and visual display will call for attention about their plight in the world at large. Under the supervision of seasoned choir instructors, local Cameroonian and African songs shall be rehearsed and with the help of technical assistance from my part they will be recorded. The profits of the sale of the audio and videotapings on CDs, DVDs and as mp3/4 downloads will come to the good of the association, from which more stipendiaries could be supported. Besides, my self-made compositions with the recorded material further stimulated my urge for this project. As a result, after 6 months of careful consideration and counseling the project was finally initiated.
Regards, Christof Hinckel The ProjectWe want to stimulate some of our stipendiaries and locals to be interested in music and in the long run to be able to develop and conduct music projects on their own. The aim of the project is to establish permanent active choirs that sing African folk songs.
As a first step to achieve this aim, we have formed the “The KAC – Choir”, which is made of stipendiaries who have an interest in singing and are being directed by competent choir instructors. The repertoire of songs will all be Cameroonian. In February 2011, I will be flying to Cameroon to do the recordings. These recordings will be processed by me in our private sound studio in Runkel (near Limburg on the Lahn River). Depending on the amount of the donations, videotaping recordings will also be processed. The entire proceeds of the sales shall be channeled to the Kamerun4AfrikaClub e.V. The project will be declared as closed when the choristers will be able to use their own initiatives to come up with new songs that will be subsequently recorded, processed and sole. The Kamerun4AfrikaClub e.V. will have full jurisdiction over the copyrights.
It is our utmost wish that this project will be a 100% success and that in future, we will be able to broaden the scope of instumentalised performances. For to kick-off, we need start capital. This is under the supervision of Ms Sheila Nchang and Mr Festus Ndundat. Both of them are seasoned choir instructors and they bring along an incredible body of experience in this field. At the moment, they are rehearsing with 15 to 25 choristers. Mr Christof Hinckel will be in Cameroon in February 2011 for the recording. Before, he arrives the choir must be ready for the task. Because of this they meet every weekend for rehearsals. Below are some pictures of the choristers and the instructors. |
